BACK AT DAYTONA: NASCAR Cup Series teams arrived to sunny Daytona Beach, Florida, for the first slate of on-track activity Wednesday ahead of the 67th running of the prestigious DAYTONA 500 at Daytona International Speedway. After a 50-minute practice session, teams turned their attention to single-car qualifying under the lights, setting the front row for Sunday's race and determining the lineups for Thursday's Duel races. Austin Cindric, the 2022 DAYTONA 500 champion, claimed the second starting position and is set to start alongside polesitter Chase Briscoe on the front row for the Great American Race. The pair of 150-mile qualifying races on Thursday will finalize the full starting grid for Sunday's 500-mile race. All three Team Penske drivers are set to compete in Duel 2 with Cindric starting on the pole, Logano rolling off second and Blaney lining up 10th.
HEAR FROM CINDRIC: "I am really proud of the team and the work they have put into this race car. We are going to have a front row start in the Daytona 500 and, to share it with one of my closest friends, is pretty cool. Great to have a fast Discount Tire Ford Mustang. Obviously, we've had speed at these types of race tracks but this is a pretty big one to check off for the weekend, for the pit selection and everything that that means. We will lock in and make sure we do the right things tomorrow night and get a good idea of what our race car is like. For us it is expected with Roush-Yates. Everybody at Ford Performance does an awesome job at these types of race tracks and we want to try and continue that throughout the weekend."
TUNE IN ON THURSDAY: Coverage of Thursday's NASCAR Cup Series Duel from Daytona is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET. Viewers can tune in to watch the qualifying races live on FS1, with radio coverage available on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
