Busch Qualifies 20th at Bristol Motor Speedway

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 18, 2011) – Kurt Busch and the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger team led the Penske Racing NASCAR Cup Series qualifying effort for the Jeff Byrd 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon.
Busch recorded the 20th-fastest lap during the qualifying session. He toured the .533-mile oval in 15.181 seconds, or 126.395 miles per hour. Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski posted the 23rd-fastest time in the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge.
“It was just too tight and had to wait on it too long in the center of the corner,” said Busch. “If you’re waiting on a short track, you’re going to be about 20th.”
“The car just wasn’t as fast as we hoped,” stated Keselowski. “We’ll just work on it more tomorrow, looking for some more front grip. I feel pretty confident in the change NASCAR and Goodyear are making with the tires.”
The Jeff Byrd 500 will air live at 1:00 p.m. ET on the FOX network on Sunday, March 6th. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio.
