NASCAR Cup Series Qualifying Report - Indianapolis

July 20, 2024

Brickyard 400 Presented by PPG
Speedway, IN - July 20, 2024

Located about 10 miles west of Downtown Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has provided challenges for drivers and teams for over 110 years. In preparation for Sunday's 400-mile race, 39 teams took to the 2.5-mile track Saturday afternoon for qualifying to set the starting lineup.

Ryan Blaney: 7th

Joey Logano: 12th

Austin Cindric: 38th

HEAR FROM BLANEY: "I thought we left a little bit out there on our run. I was trying not to overdrive turn 2 and turn 4 which is pretty easy to do. I felt like we had good race pace and hopefully we'll get some long runs tomorrow. I think we have a good Menards/Atlas Ford Mustang and hope to give Team Penske a sweep in 2024."

RETURNING TO INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Team Penske's lone Cup Series win on the oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) came in the 2018 Brickyard 400 when Brad Keselowski took the checkered flag in the Discount Tire Ford Mustang. In 12 Cup Series starts at IMS, Joey Logano has eight top 10 finishes to his credit including a stretch of five-straight from 2013-2017. Ryan Blaney's career-best finish of seventh at IMS came in 2019, a race where he led 19 laps en route to the top 10 result. Austin Cindric makes his first-career Cup Series start at the 2.5-mile oval but has a second-place finish to his credit on the Indianapolis Road Course (2022) and won the 2021 Xfinity Series event on the same track layout.

TUNE IN ON SUNDAY: Coverage of Sunday's Brickyard 400 Presented by PPG begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC, IMS Radio Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
