Start Line Chaos Ends Race For Ambrose At Albert Park
March 15, 2015
MELBOURNE, VIC - 15 March, 2015 – The final race at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix for V8 Supercars was over before it started for Marcos Ambrose. The rolling start format played havoc with the mid filed as cars were fanning out four wide before the starting line.
Marcos Ambrose dived to the right as cars were spinning in front of him, but under acceleration was caught by a slow moving Will Davison hitting him hard in the rear. The Wurth Falcon was out on the spot and Ambrose’s return the Albert Park circuit was over.
The DJR Team Penske crew return to Queensland today and will head to Symmons Plains after a quick turnaround of just five days.

“Probably the shortest race I have ever had to be honest. The restart rules are fairly clear but there seems to be a lot of confusion when you put it into practice. When the leader does take off, everyone is entitled to go and start racing before the start finish line. The back half of the field took off and we were down the back there, and it was like the leaders had almost stopped. There was a chain reaction accident and we were out. The Grand Prix weekend has been a tough weekend and now I am looking forward to Tasmania.”
