Ambrose Looking Forward To Return To Albert Park

March 12, 2015

MELBOURNE, VIC - 12 March, 2015 – Practice and qualifying have been run in a busy day for the V8 Supercar teams at the Albert Park Grand Prix circuit. The day consisted of two practice sessions for the Wurth DJR Team Penske crew leading into an end of day, thirty minute qualifying session.

For DJR Team Penske, it was a day to continue development of the Ford Falcon FG X and for Marcos Ambrose to re acclimatize himself on a track he has not driven on since 2005. The first session saw the team running through some planned set up changes to gauge the car’s response over the 5.3km road circuit. A P22 for the Wurth Falcon was the result of practice one as the crew set about a number of changes for session two.

The second practice session was a mixed bag of results as a number of cars chose to do a run on ‘green’ Dunlop slicks, therefore placing some cars much higher than the first session.
When qualifying arrived, all 25 cars were on brand new tyres and the times began to tumble. Marcos Ambrose was quickly into the Top 10 on his first run but as the cars cycled through the session he could not hold that spot. The Wurth Ford Falcon FG X was not getting the gain on the new tyre he had hoped for stranding Ambrose back in P 20 at the chequered flag.

“We had a solid program to work through today starting with changes to our Clipsal set up this morning. We did get some gains but as the track got quicker so did everybody else.
The Wurth Falcon FG X did not get anywhere near the gain we needed on the new tyre in Qualifying this afternoon. We will need to focus on a race package as the races are short and it will be tough to move up the grid. Albert Park is a great track so I am looking forward to racing here once again.”
