Recap:  Joey Logano and the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang started second, had a second-place car and finished second in Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Richmond International Raceway.  Logano missed the pole by less than 0.01 seconds in qualifying earlier in the day and started second.  It was the second-straight week Logano and the No. 22 team started on the outside of the front row.  As the race went green, Logano fell into second-place, a position he would run for most of the night.  Logano dropped to third briefly while fighting a Mustang that needed front turn.  Logano would fall back to fifth following a slow pit stop on lap 113, but wasted little time racing his way back to second once green-flag racing resumed.  For the rest of the night, Logano would run second or third, eventually coming home in the runner up position at the end of the 250-lap event.  Logano has now finished first or second in seven-straight XFINITY Series races dating back to last season.  With the finish, Logano and the No. 22 Discount Tire team were able to extend their points lead in the Owners’ Championship standings to 36 over the No. 88 of JR Motorsports.

Quote:  “I there there is only one way we could run with the No. 20 tonight – that would be to start the whole weekend over.  He (Hamlin) was just so fast. We had nothing for him. We had a second place Discount Tire Ford Mustang and that is right where we finished. We knew he was fast in practice and it transferred right over. I know what it is like to be on the other end of the butt whooping and it isn’t as much fun from this side. Congrats to that team, we just didn’t have a shot tonight.  I’m proud of my team tonight.  But we were second best and that’s where we finished.”
