February 24, 2012

Daytona Beach, Fla. (February 24, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr., driver of the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger qualified sixth for Saturday’s Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway.

Hornish lapped the world-famous 2.5 mile super-speedway in 49.367 seconds at a speed of 182.308 miles per hour. Penske Racing teammate, Brad Keselowski qualified ninth in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge.

“As long as you’re in the race, you’ve got a chance to win it,” said Hornish.  “Our big thing is just knowing that when we come here, we’ve got the points to be in the race.  The big thing for us is to just to get through the first 95 percent of the race tomorrow so that we can race for the win in our Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger.  I feel really good about going into the season.  If we can get out of here with a top-10 starting spot, that wouldn’t be bad.  We’ll see where we end up at and go racing tomorrow.”

The Drive 4COPD 300 will air live at 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN Saturday, February 25. Race coverage will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
