CHEVY POLE HISTORY: With the NTT P1 Award for tomorrow's race in hand, Scott McLaughlin secured the 250th INDYCAR SERIES pole position for Chevrolet. Of those 250 top qualifying positions, Team Penske has totaled 160 of them dating back to April 4, 1970 when Mark Donohue won the team's first ever pole in a Chevy-powered Lola at Sonoma Raceway. It is the 14th INDYCAR SERIES pole position for McLaughlin since joining the series in 2020, placing him tied for fifth amongst the drivers that contributed to Chevrolet's milestone achievement.
THEY SAID IT: "That was pretty solid. It wasn't my best lap, but it was good enough for pole. I said all week, the car-the last couple of days-the car has had really good speed, just almost effortless speed. I'm really proud of the guys. I lost my voice, because I'm yelling so much, so I'm really proud of everyone on this DEX Chevy team. Long race tomorrow though. That's 250 poles for Team Chevy. So, I'm really proud for them. Hopefully we can transition this to a win."
