Team Penske, PPG Announce Winners of Kids Color PPG
August 30, 2024
MOORESVILLE, NC (August 30, 2024) – Team Penske and PPG announced today the winner of the 2024 Kids Color PPG program where a pit wall banner for the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet team will feature a design by 10-year-old Lily Boehm and her eight-year-old sister Charlotte at the upcoming Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile race weekend for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. The winning design was chosen by two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and driver of the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet, Josef Newgarden.
The winning design features four different dog breeds that show Lily’s and Charlotte’s love of canine friends, but also a nod to one of Newgarden’s passions. One of his two charities of choice is Wags and Walks whose Nashville location provided the opportunity for the Newgarden family to adopt their dog, Axel.
“As a father, Kids Color PPG is one of my favorite things we do all year and it has a tangible application that we can promote at track,” said Newgarden. “The design by Lily and Charlotte was an easy choice because we all love our dogs. Animal rescue is something very important to Ashley and me, and we continue to devote charitable efforts to helping that cause. Thanks to the help of partners like PPG we’ve been able to do some great work with Wags and Walks.”
This is the third year of the Kids Color PPG campaign that has been utilized as a way for kids to design Newgarden’s helmet (2022) and fire suit (2023) in past seasons. This year’s campaign brought in nearly 100 submissions of pit wall banner designs that will be placed in the pit stall of the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet team for the upcoming Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250 on August 31, the first race of a doubleheader race weekend.
"We are delighted to be a part of the Kids Color PPG program through our partnership with Team Penske and Josef Newgarden," shared Bill Shaw, Global Business Director, Strategic Initiatives. "The program's multi-faceted approach is truly impressive. This year, with the winning design, we have the opportunity to support our partners and bring awareness to Josef's passion for animal rescue, all while showcasing the PPG brand."
Coverage of the first race of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile race weekend can be seen live on Peacock starting at 6:00 pm ET. There are three races remaining on the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule.
