THE RACE REVIEW
Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Detroit Genuine Parts Ford team started the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 from the 12th position following Friday afternoon’s qualifying session at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Keselowski fought a Ford Fusion that was tight on entry and loose on corner exit as well as slow on restarts for most of the day. He would run in the top-15 for the first part of the race before finally breaking into the top-10 in the second half of the event. With 30 laps to go, Keselowski was scored fifth when a late-race caution allowed a few competitors to stay on the racing surface while most of the leaders came to pit lane. The short run at the end did not play into his long-run strength and Keselowski fought to the end to bring home a ninth-place finish. The result allowed Keselowski to make a big jump from 35th to 22nd in the Sprint Cup Series point standings.
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
“We were just kind of up and down and floating all day long. At one point, I thought we were gonna have a 15th-place day and towards the end I thought we were gonna have a fifth-place day. We cycled out to a ninth-place finish, which wasn’t our best and wasn’t our worst today. It just was what it was.”
