Busch Scores Second Pole Position of 2010 at Michigan

June 11, 2010

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 11, 2010) – Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, scored the pole position for Sunday’s Heluva! Good Sour Cream Dips 400 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). Today’s pole award is the 12th career pole for Busch, his second of the 2010 season and his first at MIS in 19 previous attempts. Penske Racing teammates Sam Hornish Jr. and Brad Keselowski will start 18th and 33rd, respectively.

Finishing third in Friday’s only practice session, Busch was the 11th qualifier to make an attempt at the two-mile tri-oval. He posted a fast-lap time of 37.898 seconds at a speed of 189.984 miles per hour in the “Blue Deuce.”

"The Miller Lite Dodge felt great,” said Busch. “I was hoping to go out for qualifying as early as I could, knowing that if it gets hotter, the track will really get slick. The Miller Lite guys did a great job getting the car ready. We're fast. I think that we have a top-five car. At Michigan you can pass; go high, go low. We spent a lot of time in race trim trying to dial this car in. We'll see what happens with the weather. Rain may come in and change the track.

“The Miller Lite Dodge has been good the last few weeks so we left this Vortex paint scheme on there. It has been great to have everybody in Milwaukee talking about it.  Their support to keep this paint scheme, something that we didn’t initially plan on having through the summer months, is great. It’s going really good.”

The Heluva! Good Sour Cream Dips 400 will air live on Sunday, June 13 on the TNT television network beginning at 1 p.m. EDT. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
