RACE 1 RUNDOWN: Josef Newgarden and the No. 2 Snap-on Chevrolet team overcame handling issues that followed the resumption of the first race of the Snap-on INDYCAR Weekend at the Milwaukee Mile to finish in the seventh position. After starting the race from the third on the grid, Newgarden settled into the top five and stayed there through the team's first pit stop on Lap 50. Light rain showers the forced a red flag condition at Lap 91 that resulted in the race being postponed until Sunday afternoon. When the race resumed on Lap 99, the Snap-on Chevy continued to run at the front of the field until slight contact with the No 76 of Rinus VeeKay on Lap 133 forced him into the dirty upper lane and resulted in several lost positions. Newgarden would continue to fight handling issues - eventually losing a lap to the leaders - while the team continued to adjust the No. 2 Chevy. After taking the wave around under a Lap 153 caution period, Newgarden was able to start working his way back through the field, eventually getting back inside the top 10 on Lap 229. The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner picked up two more positions over the remaining laps to score his 11th top 10 finish of the season.

RACE 2 RUNDOWN: Josef Newgarden and the No. 2 Snap-on Chevrolet team continued their unfortunate string of luck at the Milwaukee Mile with a 25th-place finish in Sunday's Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250. In a strange scheduling change, the second race of the doubleheader weekend was contested before the finish of the first race that was postponed until Sunday evening after 91 laps were completed on Saturday. A 14-time winner on short ovals in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Newgarden started Sunday's 250-lap event from the third position and quickly raced his way into the lead on Lap 35. While he was able to keep his Snap-on Chevy at the front of the field through the first two pit cycles, Newgarden asked for front wing adjustments on each pit stop to help a persistent tight-handling condition. Following the team's third pit stop of the day on Lap 125, the Nashville native cycled into the third position before spinning his Chevy on the exit of Turn 4 on Lap 143. Newgarden made significant contact with the attenuator at the entry to pit lane, effectively ending his day.

NEWGARDEN'S THOUGHTS: “It was a hard weekend, a really hard weekend. It was a disappointing weekend. Tough for the team. We wanted a lot more here. They showed up and put in the effort. Put in the work and don't have a lot of reward for it. I want to thank everybody on the No. 2 Snap-on Chevy crew more than anything. They did a great job. There always hanging in there and doing anything that is needed. First race, I couldn't quite get the car to do what I wanted, and I forced the issue and spun off Turn 4. Just trying too hard and making a mistake. Second race. All over the place. Really struggling. Couldn't quite get what I wanted out of the car. Then kind of got shoved around a couple of times. Side-checked into the marbles. Thankfully didn't hit the fence. Went way backwards then and tried to recover as much as we could, but didn't have the pace. Didn't have the feel in the car on the tires. Ended up in seventh at the end. We fought back to something reasonable, but not what we wanted and what this crew is capable of. We're going to leave here disappointed and wanting more.”

SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN No. 3 CLARIENCE / PPG CHEVROLET

RACE 1 RUNDOWN: Scott McLaughlin and the No. 3 Clarience Chevrolet team looked to be in position to leave the Snap-on INDYCAR Weekend at the Milwaukee Mile with a pair of podium finishes, but a near incident with the No. 9 of Scott Dixon at the end of the Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 saw him cross the finish line in the fourth position. The first race of the weekend was postponed from Saturday to Sunday afternoon after the completion of 91 laps due to rain showers over the Milwaukee area. Prior to the red flag, McLaughlin had made his second pit stop of the day and restarted the race from the 17th position. After struggling the handling on the Clarience Chevy on Saturday afternoon, McLaughlin reported the handling to be improved as he quickly raced his way inside the top 10. The call from the No. 3 timing stand to undercut the final pit stop of the day on Lap 193 allowed McLaughlin to jump from the eighth position prior to his pit stop to third after the stops had cycled through. He would hang on to the third position until two laps remaining when he was held up by Dixon on the exit of Turn 2, allowing the No. 76 of Rinus VeeKay to make the pass and drop McLaughlin to fourth at the checkered flag.

RACE 2 RUNDOWN: Scott McLaughlin and the No. 3 PPG Chevrolet team began Sunday with a second-place finish in the Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250, the second race of the weekend. The seven-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES race winner took the green flag from the eighth position, but improved handling overnight allowed McLaughlin to race his way inside the top five following the team's first pit stop on Lap 39. A call to stay out under a Lap 143 caution period gave McLaughlin the lead for the first time. Despite falling back to the third as the race progressed, McLaughlin and his PPG crew performed a solid, green flag pit cycle on their final pit stop at Lap 193 to push McLaughlin into the second position where he would take the checkered flag for his third podium of the year. 
 

MCLAUGHLIN'S THOUGHTS:  “All in all, not a bad weekend for the Clarience / PPG Chevy but it should have been two podiums. (Scott) Dixon is my hero so I don't want to say too much about what happened but we gifted the 76 a podium, simple as that. The 3 car was fantastic all weekend. Really proud of the effort from the crew because they were thrown into a tough situation with the weather. One more weekend to get a win and we are going to Laguna (Seca) to do just that.”

DAVID MALUKAS No. 12 VERIZON CHEVROLET

RACE 1 RUNDOWN: David Malukas and the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet team continued their strong 2026 campaign Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile, earning a second-place finish in the Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 after spending much of the race in contention for the victory. After qualifying third on Saturday, Malukas was forced to start 12th following a nine-position grid penalty, but quickly worked his way forward despite battling an oversteer condition in the opening stages of the event. The Verizon Chevrolet team made significant adjustments to improve the handling before rain arrived, bringing out a red flag and ultimately postponing the remainder of the race until Sunday evening. When competition resumed, Malukas charged through the field, climbing from 17th to seventh in short order before strategy and strong execution by the No. 12 team placed him at the front during green-flag pit cycles. Malukas took over the race lead on lap 124 and remained a fixture at the front of the field throughout the remainder of the event, twice reclaiming the top spot after pit stop sequences. Despite managing tire wear during the closing stages and navigating several late-race restarts, Malukas continued to lead laps and put himself in position to battle for the win. In the final restart and run to the checkered flag, Pato O'Ward was able to work his way past the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet, leaving Malukas to settle for a hard-fought runner-up finish. The result marked Malukas' sixth podium finish of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season and another impressive recovery drive for the No. 12 team.

RACE 2 RUNDOWN: David Malukas and the No. 12 Verizon Chevy team got their solid Sunday effort started with a fourth-place finish in the Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250. After qualifying in the 14th position on Saturday afternoon - just the team's fourth starting position outside the top 10 this year - Malukas began struggling with the handling of his No. 12 Chevy. Great pit work that included a front wing adjustment on the team's second pit stop of the day on Lap 87 resulted in Malukas cycling into the ninth position and beginning to turn laps comparable to the race leaders. Another strong pit cycle around a Lap 123 pit stop placed Malukas in the sixth position and in full attack mode as he drove his way to the second position in 15 laps. After getting shuffled back to the ninth position, Malukas made his final pit stop of the day on Lap 192 and returned to the racing action in the 12th position. Making the most of his new Firestone tires, Malukas sliced his way through the field to finish fourth. 
 

MALUKAS' THOUGHTS: "We definitely gave away a win in the first race and that is always hard to take. Just dealt with some mechanical issues all race and it really bit us on the last restart. This just seems like a year of second-place finishes. The Verizon Chevy team gave me another great car this weekend and I know we will get our win soon. We just have to keep knocking on the door, but it is still frustrating because this team deserves to have a win by now."

The final round of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season will take place at one of America's most historic venues as the series heads west to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Race coverage can be seen live on FOX beginning at 2:30 pm ET on Sunday, September 6.
