MALUKAS CLEARED: David Malukas was involved in a incident early in the morning practice session that resulted in him needing to be cleared by INDYCAR Medical before returning to the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet. This caused him to miss qualifying but he was cleared in time to return to the car for the evening practice sessions in preparation for tomorrow's 300-lap event where he will start 25th following an additional nine-position grid penalty for an engine change.  

THEY SAID IT: "That was certainly close to what we felt in practice. We felt like we had a good car right away, and I think we did what we could there.  I hope that's enough, but if it's not, that's what we had then, and we'll go into the race with it. I think we're gonna at least be up towards the front, which is really positive for this No. 2 team, and this is Astemo Chevy. Proud of the effort. We just we showed up really good. My mindset is the same everywhere, whether you're at Indianapolis or you're here, or you're at Long Beach, you're expected to do a great job everywhere, so it feels the same to me. But it's nice to sleep in my own bed. I can say that."
