Bass Pro Shops Night Race:
Bristol Motor Speedway
Bristol, Tennessee – September 20, 2024
The annual night race at Bristol Motor Speedway is a staple on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, known for delivering thrilling action and sometimes heated rivalries. This Saturday's 500-lap showdown at The Last Great Colosseum promises to be no different, as drivers battle not only for victory, but for a coveted spot in the Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Friday's on-track action began with a 45-minute practice session, followed by qualifying to set the lineup for Saturday night's race under the lights at the Tennessee track.
Joey Logano: 20th
Ryan Blaney: 22nd
Austin Cindric: 27th
LOGANO SAID IT: "It's not the same as it was [in the spring]. I don't know what changed, but the track looked completely different and the tires aren't wearing. Not what most of us expected. It threw us all for a loop again. It's kind of like what it was last fall here so we kind of know what the race will play out like at this point. I think our Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang is pretty fast and we have something we can compete with."
BRISTOL HISTORY: Bristol Motor Speedway is the eighth-winningest track for Team Penske across the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series as the organization has 18 total wins at the half-mile track – 14 of which came at the Cup level. Joey Logano won back-to-back Bristol night races in 2014 and 2015, triumphs that are a part of six total top fives the Team Penske driver has at the iconic short track in the Cup Series. He also has two Xfinity Series wins at Bristol. Teammate Ryan Blaney has two NASCAR national series wins at Bristol, one in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and one in the Xfinity Series. In the Cup Series, Blaney has five top-10 and two top-five finishes at the "The Last Great Colosseum." Austin Cindric has four top-10 finishes in seven Xfinity Series starts at Bristol, and the driver of the No. 2 is looking to record a strong run on Saturday evening in the final race of the Round of 16.
TUNE IN ON SATURDAY: Coverage of Saturday's battle under the lights at Bristol is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
