CONCORD, N.C. (October 16, 2009) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start tonight’s Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina from the third spot. Tonight will mark the second consecutive week Allgaier will line up in the top-five for the start of a NASCAR Nationwide Series event.
The 23-year old Riverton, Ill. native was the 28th competitor to take time at the high banked NASCAR speedway. Allgaier made two laps around the Lowe’s Motor Speedway running a fast time of 29.439 seconds and a speed of 183.424 miles-per-hour. The time was good enough to put him on the inside of the second row for the start of tonight’s race.
“Lowe’s Motor Speedway is a special track to me,” said Justin Allgaier after his top-five qualifying effort. “Last year here in the fall, I made my very first NASCAR Nationwide Series start. I am so proud of my Verizon Wireless Dodge team. [Crew chief] Chad Walter and all the guys on this team work so hard to bring fast race cars to the track every week. For the second consecutive week, we have qualified in the top-five and it is a testament to all the hard work these guys put in preparing the cars each week. I am really excited about tonight. We have a really fast race car. We just need to not make any mistakes and I feel like we will have a strong run.”
The Dollar General 300 will be broadcast live tonight on ESPN2, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
