Allgaier Will Start Tonight's Race From The 19th Position
September 11, 2009
RICHMOND, Va. (September 11, 2009) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Charger for Penske Racing, will start tonight’s scheduled 250-lap event at the .75-mile Richmond International Raceway from the 19th position.
The 23-year old Riverton, Ill. native was the 18th competitor to take time at the Virginia speedway. Allgaier made two laps around the raceway running a time of 22.026 seconds. The time was good enough to put him on the inside of the 10th row for the start of tonight’s event. This will be his second start at the Richmond, Va. short track.
“The Verizon Wireless team did a great job today,” commented Allgaier after his two qualifying laps. “We have made significant gains in our short track program since we were here in the spring and it showed up today. I ran over 100 laps during practice to get a feel for the car on old tires. I feel like we have a solid car. We just need to finish all 250-laps. I am really looking forward to tonight’s race.”
The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 will be broadcast live tonight on ESPN2, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
