Justin Allgaier Lines Up 34th For Tonight's 300-Mile Race
September 5, 2009
HAMPTON, Ga. (September 5, 2009) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start tonight’s 300-mile event at the Atlanta Motor Speedway from the 34th spot.
The team went out 27th to make its qualifying attempt under almost perfect fall like conditions on Saturday afternoon. The 23-year old Illinois native ran a time of 32.828 seconds which put him on the outside of the 17th row for the start of the 195-lap race at the 1.54-mile Georgia speedway. This is Allgaier’s first career start at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“Wow it was loose,” commented Justin Allgaier after the qualifying effort. “We were really good this morning when the track was cool, but the temperature has gone up 20 degrees and the track is hot and slick. I think we will be fine tonight once the sun goes down. We are just going to have to take our time getting our Verizon Wireless Dodge to the front. It is a long race and I know we have a car capable of running in the top-five. I am looking forward to tonight’s race.”
The Degree V12 300 will be broadcast live tonight, on ESPN 2, with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
