Justin Allgaier To Start Third In Saturday's Meijer 300
June 13, 2009
SPARTA, Ky. (June 13, 2009) - Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start Saturday's 300-mile race at Kentucky Speedway in the 3rd spot.
The team went out second to make their qualifying attempt on Saturday evening. The 23-year old Illinois native ran a time of 31.038 seconds which put him on the inside of the second row for the start of the Meijer 300. This is Allgaier's first NASCAR Nationwide Series start at the 1.5-mile speedway. The Raybestos-Rookie-of-the-year leader has four ARCA RE/MAX Series starts at the speedway with a best finish of third.
"I'm really proud of all the work the Verizon Wireless Dodge crew has done," said driver Justin Allgaier. "Our qualifying results have lacked this year, and track position is important at tough tracks like Kentucky Speedway. I'm really glad to be starting as far forward as we are."
The Meijer 300 presented by Ritz can be seen live tonight on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
