CONCORD, N.C. (October 10, 2008) – Justin Allgaier, making his debut as the driver of the Penske Racing No. 12 Penske Truck Rental Dodge in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, will start Friday night’s Dollar General 300 in 14th place after he qualified for the race with a fast lap of 30.041 seconds at 179.754 mph.
Because the No. 12 team was outside of the top-30 in Nationwide Series owner points, Allgaier was required to qualify on time. 51 entries attempted to qualify for the 300-mile event.
“That was awesome,” said Allgaier as he stepped out of his No. 12 machine. “These guys worked their butts off and got the car where it needed to be. I can’t thank Matt Gimbel and the guys enough, as well as Roger Penske for giving me the opportunity. This is a dream come true and hopefully the start of what is to become a great career with Penske Racing.
“I’m very much looking forward to tonight and getting the Penske Truck Rental Dodge up front.”
Coverage of the Dollar General 300 will air live on the ESPN2 television network on Friday, October 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on PRN at 8 p.m. EDT.
