BRISTOL, Tenn. (August 22, 2008) – Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 12 Penske Truck Rental Dodge Charger in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, qualified in the 20th position for tonight’s Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
After being forced to a back up car following an accident in practice this morning, Hornish posted a fast lap time of 15.985 seconds at a speed of 120.038 miles per hour during qualifying. The effort secured the Penske Truck Rental team the 20th starting position on Friday night.
“I’m very proud of this Penske Truck Rental team,” said Hornish. “They really worked hard to prepare the back up car after we wrecked in practice this morning. We really only had the final practice session to get the No. 12 Dodge dialed in for tonight’s race. We’re looking forward to solid run and a fun race tonight.”
The Food City 250 will air live on the ESPN television network tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast live on PRN at 8 p.m. EDT.
