CONCORD, N.C. (October 15, 2009) – David Stremme driver of the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger, secured the 27th starting position for Saturday night’s 500-mile event at the 1.5-mile Lowe’s Motor Speedway just north of Charlotte North Carolina.
During Thursday night’s qualifying session, Stremme posted a fast lap time of 28.636 seconds at a speed of 188.574 miles per hour. His qualifying effort put him on the inside of the 14th row for the start of Saturday night’s 334-lap event.
“The car was a bit tight in the middle of turns 1 and 2," commented David Stremme after his two qualifying laps. “We did not have as much practice today as usual because of the rain and only got to make a couple of mock qualifying runs. We definitely have made significant improvements to our race car from the spring race and I feel like we have a package that will be competitive on Saturday night.”
The NASCAR Banking 500 will be seen live on Saturday, October 17 on the ABC television network. Race coverage is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET. The event will also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
