THE NEWS AND NOTES

The No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang

· ANOTHER CHANCE TO DOUBLE UP: Brad Keselowski returns to the driver seat of the Discount Tire Ford Mustang this weekend for his 10th “double duty” race weekend of the 2014 season. With the double duty, Keselowski also has another opportunity to pick up a third “sweep” – winning both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series events in the same weekend.  Keselowski has already achieved the feat two other times this season, coming at Las Vegas and New Hampshire.

· A TIME TO SHINE: In 15-career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at Phoenix International Raceway, Keselowski has three runner-up and six finishes in the top-three. The 2010 NNS Champion is still looking for his first victory at the desert mile.

· ABOVE-AVERAGE AVERAGES: In his nine NASCAR Nationwide Series starts this year, Keselowski has a strong 4.1-average starting position and a phenomenal 1.9-average finish. In those nine starts, he owns four victories, three second-place finishes and he has not taken the checkered flag outside the top-four.

· CLOSING IN ON A REPEAT: With just two races remaining in 2014, the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford team holds a 26-point advantage over the No. 54 team from Joe Gibbs Racing in the NNS Owners’ points title chase. The team is looking to clinch its second-consecutive Owners’ Championship.

· TOP-FIVE ALL-TIME TIE: With his four wins this season, Keselowski now has 31-career NASCAR Nationwide Series victories, which places him tied for fifth with Jack Ingram on the all-time series win list. He currently trails fourth-place Carl Edwards by seven wins.

THE Q & A

BRAD KESELOWSKI, NO. 22 DISCOUNT TIRE FORD

YOU AND THIS TEAM HAVE BEEN FORMIDIBLE THIS YEAR. IS THIS YOUR WEEKEND TO FINALLY NOTCH A WIN AT PHOENIX?

“Our Discount Tire Ford team has done a terrific job of giving myself, Joey and Ryan great cars all season long. Looking at where the team is in the standings and considering that there’ve been five different drivers in that Mustang - it is truly phenomenal. I feel like we have a legitimate shot at the win each time I get in the car. Our last race at Phoenix we struggled a bit and still came home third. I always look forward to competing in the Nationwide races as it seems to give me a boost on the Cup side. We are in great shape going into this weekend. It ought to be good.”

JEREMY BULLINS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 22 DISCOUNT TIRE FORD.

YOU AND BRAD HAVE BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL TOGETHER THIS YEAR. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS WEEKEND?

“This is a big race for us. Phoenix is Discount Tire’s hometown and we’d love to be able to give them a win here so they are here with us to celebrate it. On top of that, we are making strides towards realizing the overarching goal of giving Roger his second Owners’ Championship. Brad has been great for us in the No. 22 every time he gets in the car, so we are looking forward to giving our best.”
