Allgaier to Start 39th for Tonight's Event in Richmond

May 1, 2009

RICHMOND, Va. (May 1, 2009) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless/Star Trek Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start tonight’s scheduled 250-lap event at the .75-mile Richmond International Raceway from the 39th position.

The 22-year old Riverton, Ill. native was the 10th competitor to take time at the Virginia speedway.  Allgaier made two laps around the raceway running a time of 22.388 seconds.  The time was good enough to put him on the inside of the 20th row for the start of tonight’s event.

“We made a number of changes to the car during the two-and-a-half hour practice session,” commented driver Justin Allgaier.  “We feel like the adjustments will really help our Verizon Wireless/Star Trek Dodge tonight during the race, but we were a little tight during our qualifying effort.

“We have made a lot of gains today and I am proud of all the guys on the No.12 team. It is a long race and I am confident we can make our way to the front.  I just have to be patient and let the car come to me.  This is my first special paint scheme, and I am certain we will have a solid run in the Verizon Wireless/Star Trek Dodge.”

The Lipton Tea 250 will be broadcast live tonight on ESPN 2, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
