Teammate Joey Logano will take the green flag from the 18th position after advancing through the first round of qualifying in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion. Both teams spent the majority of the morning practice session in race trim, utilizing the valuable track position to build familiarity with the new Goodyear tire compound that teams will use this weekend for the first time. Ford Performance teammate Ryan Blaney qualified in the 11th position with the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion after turning the third and sixth fastest laps in the first two rounds respectively. Blaney will also be running the No. 22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Mustang for Team Penske in Saturday afternoon's NASCAR XFINITY Series race.
