Kurt Busch Starting 27th in Sunday's Battle at the Glen

August 13, 2011

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 13, 2011) – Shell-Pennzoil Dodge driver Kurt Busch will start 27th in Sunday’s Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen after turning in a lap of 71.454 seconds (123.436 mph) in today’s qualifying session on the 2.45-mile road course.

“I guess we just got a little too aggressive in the run,” Busch said of his lap against the clock.  I felt like I was getting behind and had to push it too hard.  I just missed it through the
bus stop and then was wild and not smooth at all through the esses.  Looks like we'll be playing catch-up for the first portion of the race here tomorrow.”

Brother Kyle Busch, the last of 46 drivers to make their qualifying efforts, picked up the Coors Light Pole Award with a fast lap of 69.767 seconds (126.421 mph).  A.J. Allmendinger, Marcos Ambrose, Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr. and Regan Smith rounded out today’s top-10 qualifiers.

Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski will start his Miller Lite Dodge from the 12th spot after turning in a lap of 70.612 seconds (124.908 mph).

Sunday’s Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Sprint Cup race has a 1:00 p.m. EDT starting time, with ESPN and MRN Radio presenting live coverage of the 90-lap, 220.5-mile battle.
