September 5, 2009

HAMPTON, Ga. (September 5, 2009) – David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will start Sunday’s Pep Boys Auto 500 at the 1.5-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway from the ninth position.

In Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session, Stremme was the 22nd car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt.  The red and black No.12 Penske Dodge ran a time of 30.392 seconds which put him on the inside of the fifth row for the start of tomorrow’s 500-mile event.

“The car was a bit loose into turn 3,” commented David Stremme after his top-10 qualifying effort.  “We have been good right off the truck.  [Crew chief] Roy [McCauley] and all the guys on the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger have done a great job fine tuning on the car.  I really enjoy racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway and think tomorrow night’s race is going to be exciting.  We have a really good car and I am looking for good things out of the No.12 car tomorrow night.”

The Pep Boys Auto 500 will be seen live on Sunday, September 6 on ESPN. Race coverage will begin at 7 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
