Allgaier To Start 13th For Saturday's Race in St. Louis

July 18, 2009

MADISON, Ill. (July 18, 2009) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start tonight’s 250-mile event at the Gateway International Raceway from the 13th spot.

The team went out 26th to make their qualifying attempt on Saturday afternoon.  The 23-year old Illinois native ran a time of 33.561 seconds which was good enough to put him on the inside of the seventh row for start of tonight’s Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250.  The Rookie-Of-The-Year contender has four starts at GIR with a best finish of fourth.

“That was a solid lap for us,” commented Verizon Wireless Dodge driver Justin Allgaier after his qualifying effort.  “I tried to get a little too much going into turn 1 on the second lap and the car was just a bit too tight.  We have a lot of friends and family here this weekend, and we want to put on a good show for all of them who came to support our race team.  We have over 1600 fans in our section which is just awesome.  [Crew chief] Chad Walter and all the guys on the Verizon Wireless Dodge team did a great job preparing the car for tonight’s race.  Our Dodge is really good on long runs.  We just need to make sure to keep our nose clean and put ourselves in the right position at the end of the race.”

Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 can be seen live tonight on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 9 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
